139.8 Whirlwind Weekend!
Did you miss me? Of course you did!! Lauren’s birthday party was ridiculously fun!
I arrived at the Se San Diego hotel around 7PM. The birthday girl wanted to go to Spaghetti Factory for dinner so that’s where we went. I hadn’t been there in awhile. Check out the crew: Lisa, Dina and the birthday girl Lauren:
Me, Lauren and Annette:
Some wine….
While we waited for our table, we sat in the bar and had some calamari:
I had never seen calamari so small. They looked like Cheerios. I passed on them.
More wine with dinner:
I seriously love the pesto dressing they have:
And the garlic butter they serve with the bread is amazing. For my entree I ordered whole wheat spaghetti (so excited they had this!) with half meat sauce and half clam sauce:
I’m not going to lie…I think Spaghetti Factory’s meat sauce is amazing. I loved the combo of it with the clam sauce.
Dessert was spumoni:
On the way out we thought we’d pose with the birthday girl.
Next it was dancing time!! We made our way over to Stingaree Night Club and Bar.
Our friend Jen ended up joining us. Dina, Jen, Annette, Lauren and I:
The whole group:
Then the craziest thing happened! Someone recognized me from my blog! That has never happened before and I was beyond excited. Thanks Monica for reading!! Monica and I:
After dancing the night away, we were famished. We went to Brian’s 24 for some late night grub. We arrived a bit after 2AM and it was packed. I ordered an egg and chorizo burrito and it was the size of my head:
Of course I ate it all:
Just kidding!!! I barely made a dent in it but I packed it up just in case we ran into a homeless person…which we didn’t. I hate wasting the food. The burrito was ok…I should have ordered the regular breakfast burrito. The egg and chorizo were too mixed up and I couldn’t tell what was what. I ended up eating most of the tortilla and nothing else.
We finally went to sleep around 3:30AM….that is WAY too late for me but I had a fabulous time!!!
Dina ended up waking up before us so she went to Starbucks to grab us some coffee. What a pal!! We finally got up and dressed and went out to get some food. Everyone wanted Subway except me (shocker!). There was a Mexican joint next door to the Subway and I could not resist a bean and cheese burrito with tons of hot sauce:
We went back to our hotel because it was massage time!! I had never been to the Se San Diego spa and I’m not sure I’d go back. The spa was set up very differently than I’m used to. There was no common jacuzzi/sauna/steam area or locker room area. When I was taken to my treatment room, that’s where I was to change and leave my belongings. There was also a shower/steam in each individual room. Each person was given ten minutes after their treatment to use the shower/steam and that was it . Not very relaxing. Also, during my treatment I kept hearing all this bumping music interfering with the spa music. I asked about it and was told it was the DJ’s music at the pool upstairs. My masseuse was wonderful but I just wasn’t feeling their set up. Oh well. Live and learn.
After we got changed we decided to do a little shopping since we couldn’t relax in the spa. That called for another Starbucks run:
Then it was time to go home and see the family. :)
For dinner, we took the kids to our club. Sundays are called “Slider Sundays”. You get a choice of two sliders from their slider list. I rolled with the angus beef with cheddar cheese and the crab cake slider. I ordered half fries, half salad to go with it:
It was a perfect way to end the day! I was asleep by 9PM…..just the way I like it. :)
This morning’s breakfast was an egg beater sandwich on a sandwich thin with swiss cheese and spinach. I had some strawberries with it:
I took the kids to school and then went to both Cardio Muscle and Zumba classes. When Zumba rolled around, I was exhausted but something happened about 15 minutes into class….I got my second (or third or fourth) wind and really kicked it into gear. I left a sweaty mess. I quickly changed and picked up my daughter from school.
When I got back, I was ridiculously hungry. I made a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with tomatoes, spinach and a Laughing Cow cheese wedge. I also had a bowl of Trader Joe’s split pea soup:
I inhaled it. I picked up my son from school and that’s about that for now. I bought a steam cleaner from Costco and now I’m going to attempt to put it together. My carpets are filthy. Ick.
If you blog, have you ever been recognized?
What was your worst spa experience?
What a fun night you party girl! And how cool to be recognized! I've never been - but just recently put up pictures of myself - and I'm kind of hiding behind my camera. I have a habit of attracting weirdos so I'm being careful.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa, it was so good meeting you on Saturday. You are so beautiful! I really enjoy reading your blog. Keep up the good work.
