142.0…Still alive!
I survived my friend’s birthday party all-nighter (almost!) and a birthday party with 20 four year olds. Props to me.
Saturday afternoon I drove over to The Grand Del Mar to celebrate my friend Lisa’s birthday. We sat by the pool for a couple of hours and had some drinks.
After going back to the room and popping some birthday bubbly, we headed down to the restaurant Amaya for dinner.
Wine, of course!
I ordered the Tomato Flat Bread with Pesto and Mozzarella for my appetizer:
I did share a couple of pieces and annihilated the rest.
My entree rocked my world:
Lobster Pappardelle with Tarragon, Mushrooms and Parmigiano-Reggiano. I asked them to make it spicy and it came out perfectly mind-blowing. The lobster chunks were HUGE! I will dream of this dish.
After dinner we went to the club at the hotel: Club M. I didn’t take any pictures. All I did was dance, dance, dance. I had a blast! The music was awesome and dancing with my friends was even better. I did steal a couple pictures that other people sent me:
Dina, Me and the birthday girl Lisa
The group of ladies.
We finally went to bed around 2:30am. Huh? That is completely ridiculous for me. Especially when I had to leave the hotel by 7:30Am to get home to get ready for my daughter’s birthday party.
When I got home, all I wanted was coffee (duh!) and an egg beater sandwich. No fruit, just the sandwich.
I ended up dipping each bite in ketchup after this photo was taken. :)
After getting myself and the kids ready, we were off to the party. Everyone had a blast and it worked out well. I had a couple of slices of pizza and a tiny piece of birthday cake at the party.
Our family came back to my house and I put out some dips that I had bought at Costco: hummus, salsa, guacamole, onion dip and this amazing artichoke and jalapeno dip that I warmed up in the microwave. I snacked on a little bit of everything.
We ordered Pei Wei for dinner. My plate:
Pei Wei Spicy Chicken, Mongolian Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein, Vegetable Spring Rolls and brown rice. I went back for another spring roll. :)
And then there was this:
Leftover birthday cake. Yeah, I had a piece (or two). I was fast asleep by 8:45pm. More like it! :)
Breakfast was a repeat of Saturday’s breakfast: Special K Cinnamon Pecan cereal with almond milk and an orange:
Hubby took the kids to school and I went to Cardio Muscle class. Afterwards, it was a quick trip to the grocery store.
Lunch was a repeat of Saturday’s lunch too!
GIANT salad with mixed greens, cucumber, red onion, red bell pepper, tomatoes and a sprinkling of leftover couscous. Of course I used my favorite new salad dressing: hummus mixed with balsamic vinegar. This is the best food discovery I’ve had in a long time!
After picking up the kids, I had an apple and a Laughing Cow Babybel cheese for a snack:
Tonight I’m making another Great News Cooking School recipe! Stay tuned for that tomorrow.
Announcement: I’ve signed up to run the San Diego Rock N Roll half marathon in June. I’ve never run a race in my life. I start training this Saturday with Team in Training and I’m a wee bit nervous. You may have noticed the Team in Training box over to the right under the “About Me” section. I need to raise $1700 to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. My father in law died of Leukemia so it’s a cause that is very near and dear to my heart.
Have you ever run a half/full marathon before?
First off -- you look fabulous! Just had to throw that out there =)
ReplyDeleteSecond -- that lobster dish is calling my name! It looks AMAZING! =) so jealous!
Third - CONGRATS ON SIGNING UP FOR THE HALF MARATHON!

MAJOR props to you and that flatbread looks amazing! I've never run a half or a full - or a race of any kind really! Many congrats on sign up though!! And I hear you on making stuff - I left the cupcakes to the experts but made all of the pastas, salads, etc. for the shower - not too bad but I definitely don't want to host another event for a while!!
ReplyDeletelobster papardelle, be still my heart!! good luck on the race cannot WAIT to hear about your training!!

What a fabulous party night on Sat! Sounds like you had a great weekend. Is it bad that I want to go lick the frosting off the rest of that cake? OMG!
