145.0…Look Out! Sodium Overload!
I love sushi. Sushi does not love me. Or maybe I should be more specific and say that the soy sauce I dip my sushi in does not love me. You know when you can’t get your rings on your fingers that you’ve got a problem.
It doesn’t matter. I love sushi. I don’t care how tight my pants fit today. Or that I may pop if poked with a needle. I don’t eat sushi as often as I’d like (my pants thank me for that) so when I do, I tend to get a little crazy.
Last night we met some friends at Cafe Japengo for dinner. Our kids are friends and we are taking them on a Disney cruise to Alaska this summer. There are two other couples and their kids coming with us that we don’t know so we got together to get to know one another.
When I was getting ready last night, I enjoyed a glass of wine. I like to do that before I go out. It’s gets the party started early. I’m all about parties.
After we got seated at the restaurant, I switched bake to white wine. And then back to red wine. I guess I was feeling confused. That’s ok.
We ordered a bunch of appetizers for the table: beef satay, chicken spring rolls and ahi poke. My plate:
There were 8 of us (with 2 or 3 that didn’t eat sushi) so this basically was all for the rest of us:
Heaven. Pure heaven. Why is sushi so good?? You know what I realized as I was getting ready last night and putting on the only green top I own? I went to Cafe Japengo last year for St. Patrick’s Day too. And I wore the same exact thing. It’s good to be consistent.
I really enjoyed getting to know everyone and am excited to spend time with them on the cruise!
I wanted almond butter on toast as soon as I woke up this morning.
I took the kids to school and decided to skip my Cardio Muscle class. My legs are seriously tired and I have to run SEVEN miles with my team tomorrow morning. The legs were due for a rest. I will not be brining my water belt (aka The Wagon) with me tomorrow. I’d like to actually stick the belt where the sun don’t shine.
Lunch was the rest of Wednesday night’s dinner (brown rice, veggies, shrimp and Trader Joe’s Curry Simmer Sauce):
My son had a half day today at school so I picked him up and took him to a friend’s birthday party. Midway through I had to go pick up my daughter and bring her to the party. This was birthday party number one of THREE this weekend. That’s a lot of pizza and cake…both which I avoided today. Score.
On the way to pick up my daughter, I had a small apple and a Babybel cheese:
When we got home from the party I had an orange:
I’ve got a load of laundry in the wash and am about to make dinner. I’m looking forward to a very chill evening. Big run tomorrow. A little nervous. Eeek!
Do you know what you’re going to eat for breakfast when you wake up? I usually do….sometimes I even know the night before. :)
What is your ideal Friday night?
I'm one of those eat the same thing every single day kind of people. Maybe not always, but for weeks at a time. So yeah, I always know :)
ReplyDeleteI love sushi too. But what I love even more? That you are still pre-partying. How long has it been since you've heard that term? I just remembered that reading your post. Don't worry, I still pre-party too so I'm not getting all judgy on you.
ReplyDeleteI always have a getting-ready glass of vino as well. I got that from my parents, they always did too.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the run!
I can honestly say I'm the one to think about breakfast the night before because usually when I get home from work I'm hungry. It's a constant battle to stay away from the kitchen but I definitely try. Visions of breakfast love to creep into this head of mine! It's crazy how sodium can make you swell and gain an instant 2-3 pounds, but as soon as it comes, we know how to get it gone! Makes it kind of worth it....hehe
ReplyDeleteI always have an idea about breakfast, my idal friday night is after I put Indy to bed it's just me, cheese, crackers, and a bottle of white and some trash TV
