144.8 yesterday; 144.4…Playing Catch Up
Well, now that the half marathon is over and my vacation is done…I need to start working on getting the weight off that I gained over the past few months. Operation Summer Shape Up has officially begun. Anyone want to join me?
Wednesday morning’s breakfast used up the last fruit in my fridge: an orange. I paired that with a slice of wheat toast with almond butter.
I got my nails done and then headed over to Trader Joe’s for some much needed groceries. We needed everything!
Tuesday night I had received a call from my mom that my dad was in the hospital having some tests done. After the putting the groceries away I hopped on the train to Los Angeles to go see him. (Send some prayers his way!)
On the train I had my lunch: Trader Joe’s low fat Chicken Salad and an orange.
Yep, the chicken salad container is empty. Forgot to take a photo before eating it. Gotta get back in the swing of photographing my food!
I spent the evening at the hospital with my family. My dad was feeling better and in better spirits. Yeah! My husband met up with us a bit later. We left the hospital and went to Margarita Jones for dinner. I ordered their “Diet Tostada” without cheese.
It was basically a tostada shell (which I didn’t eat) with shredded iceberg lettuce and shredded chicken. That was it. I added some guacamole and salsa to it to give it a little oomph. It tasted much better that way.
Then we made the drive home to San Diego. Yes, that was twice driving home from Los Angeles in two days. When we got home, I crashed.
I slept in Thursday morning so I didn’t have time for a proper breakfast. I quickly ate a protein bar before heading off to Zumba.
I really like these bars that my friend Lisa gave me!
After class, I showered and started the MANY loads of vacation laundry. My laundry room looks like a dirty clothes volcano.
Lunch was delicious! I made a turkey sandwich on wheat with tomato slices, lettuce, Dijon mustard and avocado. On the side I had carrots, red bell peppers and hummus.
I took my daughter to her “Dog Smart” class and then came home for some pineapple:
Dinner was an old favorite: Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken.
I served it with their frozen brown rice and some steamed broccoli. Love this meal!
Yesterday morning I had Fage yogurt with Trader Joe’s low fat granola and raspberries.
I took my daughter to her dentist appointment, brought her home and then picked up my son for his dentist appointment. It was dentist day! :) He had to have his last two cavities filled. :( He was a trouper and did super well!
Afterwards we went to Target to get him a toy for being such a good boy and to get some stuff I needed. On the way I ate my lunch: Flat Out Wrap with BetterN Peanut Butter and an apple.
When we got home I decided to go for a run/walk around my neighborhood. I walked up the crazy “fire hill” in my neighborhood and then ran for about 2 miles and walked another mile. I did not realize how hot it was before I left. I actually felt like the sun was trying to melt me. When I got home I was on fire. I threw on my bathing suit and jumped in the pool. I think my kids thought I was nuts. I ran through the house in my bathing suit, right out the back door and jumped into the pool. Two minutes later the kids were in the pool and then the husband. We all had a great time swimming!
When I got out I jumped into the shower to get ready for dinner with some friends. After I got dressed, I realized that I was starving. I ate an orange before we left.
We met our friends at Whisknladle in La Jolla for dinner. I had never been and was excited to try it. We sat outside on their patio. It was a beautiful summer evening in La Jolla!
I ordered a glass of red wine before our friends arrived. It tasted amazing. :)
To start I ordered the Crows Pass Farm Greens Salad with black pepper almonds, cilantro vinaigrette, sweet roasted shallots & blue cheese.
I ordered a second glass of wine. Mmmmm
For my entree I ordered their salmon special. It came with roasted corn, heirloom tomatoes, arugula and a cilantro sauce.
So fresh and delicious!!!
When everyone at the table was ordering their chocolate desserts, I was a good girl and went with the sorbet.
I did try a bite of my friend’s Pot De Creme. Unreal. I would order that next time. Overall, I enjoyed my meal. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was excellent.
By the time I got home last night I was spent. I think running the blazing sun was a bad idea. I had a headache and overall felt like crap. Note to self: Don’t do that again.
I am feeling a bit better this morning but still a little off so I decided to skip spin class. I feel guilty about it but I need to listen to my body. As long as I keep my diet in check, I’ll be alright.
We are leaving for Los Angeles today (again!!). Tomorrow morning we are going to my nephew’s 2nd birthday party and then to my brother’s housewarming/Fourth of July party. They are having a taco truck come. Sounds like a cheat day to me! :)
Do you feel guilty missing a workout?
What are your Fourth of July plans?
