137.8…Chinese Celebrations
Yesterday was my son’s 7th birthday. After school, he opened his gifts and then we went on a hike at Torrey Pines. We drive to the top and walk down to the beach. I meant to bring my phone so I could take pictures (it’s so beautiful there) but forgot it in the car.
Everyone stayed at the bottom of the hill and I hiked (here comes the actual hike part) back up. We then went to my son’s favorite restaurant, PF Changs.
We shared some lettuce wraps to start.
Then I had a cup of egg drop soup.
We all shared several dishes for dinner. Chicken Lo Mein:
Sesame Chicken:
Chang’s Spicy Chicken (my son’s favorite-this is the reason we go there):
I ate some of each with brown rice.
After dinner we came back to the house to eat the birthday cake I had made.
My son requested the blue frosting. :) The cake turned out pretty good! I’m not the best at cake decorating. I guess I just need practice.
This morning’s breakfast was a toasted English muffin with homemade peanut butter and strawberries.
I took the kids to school and went to spin class.
Lunch was a Greek style salad made up of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, feta cheese, Italian seasoning, red wine vinegar and olive oil. I also had some veggies and jalapeno yogurt dip.
I picked the kids up from school and came home. Tonight is Bunco so I need to get ready for that. It will be nice catching up with my friends!
Do you have any traditions that you do on your birthday?
Now I'm craving PF Changs!! My birthday is in July so our annual tradition is going to the beach..or as the locals call it "down the shore" to Cape May, NJ. Don't worry, it's nothing like the Jersey shore show :-)
ReplyDeleteIt has been years since I have been to PF Changs, I need to go! No big traditions but I do try to at least go to a new restaurant.
ReplyDeleteI think the cake looks great! I hope your son enjoyed his birthday!
ReplyDeleteI love Chinese foods. Have you ever tried shrimp dumplings? I love it much. And the egg drop soup... My goodness. I need to make it tonight :)
