136.6…Belated Birthday Bonanza
I cannot express in words how much fun this past weekend was. My friends and I have a tradition of going away for our birthdays. My birthday is in December. It’s too busy and too cold during that time of year so I like to do my birthday celebration in the spring. This past weekend we went to Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach to celebrate my belated birthday.
It all started on Friday with a healthy breakfast of pineapple Chobani, Nutella Granola and berries.
I dropped the kids off at school and went to pick up a few of my friends. We hit the road to do some shopping at South Coast Plaza. When we got there we stopped for some coffee at Starbucks.
We did some shopping and met some more of my friends for lunch at AnQui Bistro. We enjoyed some cocktails right away.
Looks like the same picture from above, just with different drinks! :)
The chef brought out one of their Surf n Turf rolls for us to try. It was excellent!
We also shared some chicken pot stickers.
Then chef also brought out a plate of various items for us to try.
I ordered the Garlic Noodles with Shrimp:
Mmmm….Garlic Noodles!
Our server brought me a Dulce de Leche Crème Brulee for my birthday!
The food and service at AnQui were exceptional! I would definitely go back!
After lunch we did a bit more shopping and then headed over to Pelican Hill to check in. As soon as we got everything in from all our cars, the party officially began with Alicia making her famous champagne cocktails.
Champagne and Whipped Vodka. Heaven.
We unpacked the snacks…..
…..and beverages.
It looked like we were moving in for a week!
Then it was time to get ready for dinner!
Ready to go!
We went to dinner at Javier’s in Newport Beach.
More wine. :)
I kept things simple and ordered a cheese quesadilla for dinner. I wasn’t super hungry. I’m sure it didn’t have anything to do with the millions of chips, salsa and guacamole I ate beforehand.
After dinner we went to Club Sutra for some dancing. Here is my sister in law Stephanie and I:
Our group:
We danced a bit but the music really sucked. Most of the time I felt like the Statue of Liberty: really old and really tall. I’m too old for that kind of stuff. :)
But not too old to get Jack in the Box on the way home. :) After eating my tacos, I went to bed.
Saturday morning I was excited to see that I had saved two tacos from the prior evening. They were my breakfast.
Yes you may think this is disgusting but it rocked my world.
We finally managed to get going to the pool for the day.
We kept the party going strong!
We relaxed for a few hours and enjoyed the fabulous weather.
Our birthday parties aren’t complete without a Barbie photo shoot.
If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile, I’m sure you remember seeing the Barbies several times. We all have Barbies that resemble ourselves. Yes you can laugh now. Check out last year’s birthday posts ONE and TWO.
For lunch, I split a tuna wrap and fries with Stephanie.
Perfect day at the pool!
It was made even more perfect when they brought me a birthday dessert!
I love my birthday (even when it’s not really my birthday).
When the clouds started to roll in, we went back to the room for a bit and then got ready for dinner at Katsuya. I didn’t snap any pictures. I decided to enjoy the evening and just relax. We basically ordered almost the same things as the last time I went to Katsuya in Hollywood. Everything was beyond delicious. I love that place!
After dinner a few girls went out but most of us went home to catch some Zzzzzzzs.
Sunday morning we got up and fixed some breakfast in our hotel. Everyone got packed up and left. My husband & kids & his family came to the hotel for the day to celebrate Mother’s Day! The kids all went to the pool, we ate Mexican food in the hotel room and relaxed!
I don’t think Mother’s Day weekend could get any better than that! I’m ready for a repetition next year!
This morning I had a toasted English muffin with peanut butter and a side of strawberries for breakfast.
I took the kids to school and went to Cardio Muscle class. It felt good to workout after this past weekend’s indulgences!
I went grocery shopping and came home for lunch.
Tuna salad with the last of my Jalapeno Yogurt Dip, celery, cucumbers, red onion and pickles.
As if I didn’t indulge enough this past weekend, I am hosting HOT WING night tonight! At least I worked out today!
Did you do anything special for Mother’s Day?
Yep, I remember the barbie dolls! And there is nothing wrong with eating Jack in the Box for breakfast! :D
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss the jalapeno yogurt dip?? Off to check it out!
I miss JITB! The closest one to me is in TN. I made my husband stop on our way home at 7:30am. I too ordered tacos. Everyone was repulsed. I was in heaven, so that's all that mattered. :-)
