140.0…Davanti
I love trying new restaurants. When our friends suggested we go to Davanti Del Mar last night for dinner, I was all for it!
Davanti is a new restaurant to the Del Mar Highlands Center. The center has recently been remodeled and a ton of new restaurants are there now. So far I’ve tried Burlap and Rimel’s..now Davanti!
We enjoyed some delicious Cabernet to start our evening.
Davanti’s dishes are designed to share…like tapas style. I love sharing…that way you get to try all sorts of things. I was able to try a ton of delicious things from their menu.
Lingurian Style Baked Foccacia with Fresh Soft Cow Cheese and Honeycomb:
This was an amazing plate of carbs. The cheese was inside two layers of foccacia. The honeycomb put it over the top. I could just drink wine and eat this bread forever.
One of the appetizer specials last night was Panko Crusted Burrata Cheese:
Another winner. It was drizzled with a basil olive oil and balsamic vinegar and served with arugula and tomatoes.
Shaved Brussels Sprouts with Pecorino-Parmesan Vinaigrette:
I would eat Brussels sprouts more often if they tasted like this!
Pizza D.O.C. (tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil):
I have no idea what D.O.C. stands for but the pizza was delicious. Maybe Delicious Overload of Carbs perhaps?
Another special last night was Mascarpone Polenta and Pork Shoulder Ragu. I had to order it. I’m so glad I did.
They served the polenta on a wooden board and spooned the ragu on top.
Seriously comfort food at it’s best. This needs to go on the regular menu. I would go there just for this.
Risotto Carbonara with Pancetta, Peas and a Poached Egg:
Rich and delicious! I loved stirring the egg into the risotto.
A lot of food right!?! There was one more dish that my husband and my friend shared (she’s a vegetarian and my husband hates most foods): Cacio E Pepe (Spaghetti, Pecorino and Black Pepper). I tried a bite and it was simple yet heavenly.
We couldn’t pass up dessert! Lemon Tiramisu with Blueberries:
Love. Pure and simple love. It tasted like summer to me. I really enjoyed Davanti. It was a pretty lively restaurant and the menu was unique. You could tell they used fresh ingredients. I would definitely go back. Success!
Breakfast this morning was pineapple Chobani with Coconut-Sour Cherry Granola, strawberries and raspberries.
I took the kids to the bus for camp (today is their last day of camp for the summer) and then went to Cardio Muscle class.
Lunch was the last of the Hard Rock Cafe’s Baked Potato Soup. I was sad to see it go.
After lunch I ran errands and picked up the kiddos. Tonight is quiet night at home. I haven’t had one of those in awhile so I’m really looking forward to it.
What was the last new restaurant you tried? Would you go back?
I laughed out loud when I read, "and my husband hates most foods". Do you secretly make him his own food that you don't tell us about?? Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteOH my goodness! That looks like an amazing meal!
ReplyDeleteWow that looked like a great restaurant! Too bad I live in NJ, a little far :-) I love trying new restaurants and food, the husband not so much. That's what girls nights are for!

ReplyDeleteI tailor a lot of my meals/recipes around his likes/dislikes. Sometimes when he's out of town, I'll make stuff he doesn't like. He doesn't like fish for instance...you don't see a lot of fish recipes on here. :)
