Wimbledon, Gymnastics and Mind Blowing Pasta
I have a lot to report to cover the past few days! Saturday night we stayed in and ordered room service. I wasn’t super hungry so I ordered the fish and chips from the kid’s menu.
It was good but I think they were frozen fish sticks…no English fish and chips I’ve ever seen.
Sunday morning my appetite was back. I thoroughly enjoyed our hotel’s breakfast buffet.
They make some seriously good hash browns!
We hopped on the Tube to head to Wimbledon for tennis! I was excited to see it! I just thought there was one court there but there were so many! We were in Centre Court which was covered..thankfully since it was raining that day.
We watched a women’s match (Germany vs. Poland) and then watch Andy Murray (Great Britain) win the next match.
In between matches, I grabbed some real fish and chips.
The load of ketchup was for my kids who ate my chips. :)
Wimbledon was a great experience! We really enjoyed our first Olympic event.
Afterwards we went to Westminster to ride the London Eye!
We got in our little pod and enjoyed the fabulous views of London.
We decided to stop in South Kensington for dinner. Best decision ever.
It turns out Cacciari’s Restaurant makes the best pasta EVER. My food bliss started with a glass of Merlot.
Then proceeded with Caprese salad.
Then the excitement really happened.
Tagliatelle Bolognese aka best pasta I’ve ever had in my life. I don’t know what they put in their Bolognese but it rocked my world. I need more of this in my life.
We went back to our hotel and went to bed. We didn’t have any event until later in the day so we were able to sleep in, missing breakfast. When I got up, I got dressed, ate a Larabar and then we were off.
We stopped in South Kensington for lunch. I had not had enough fish and chips so we stopped at Taylor Walker, an English pub.
Yes!
Then it was off to the North Greenwich Arena for men’s team gymnastics!
Let the games begin!
We clapped loudly when the American team walked in!
The action was incredible! We watched the USA, Great Britain, Japan, China, Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia compete.
In the end, China took gold, Japan took silver (after some controversy), and Great Britain took bronze.
In come the medals!
The flag ceremony and the Chinese National Anthem:
I can’t express how awesome it was to witness this Olympic event. Yes I was disappointed when the USA didn’t medal but it was fabulous to watch the pride of the other team’s fans when they won.
When trying to decide what to do for dinner last night, I knew what I wanted. More mind blowing pasta at Cacciari’s!
I took their business card and will email them for their recipe. I doubt I’ll get it but it doesn’t hurt to try. I’m not sure how to survive without it in my life.
Instead of getting an appetizer, we decided on dessert instead. Two desserts!
Apple Tart:
Just so-so.
Chocolate Lava Cake:
BEST LAVA CAKE EVER! Ahhhhh…….I will miss this restaurant!
This morning I went to town at the breakfast buffet again.
Sometimes you just don’t know when your next meal is coming so you need to load up. :)
Next up: a flight to Amsterdam! I have never been before! We landed and took a taxi to our hotel. I can’t get over how cute this town is. I cannot wait to explore.
In our hotel room were some complimentary wine and sweets.
Nice!
Have you been watching any Olympic events?
Looks like so much fun, I watched mens gymnastics last night and it was so interesting. Enjoy Amsterdam it is one of my favorite cities.
ReplyDeleteSo cool you got to watch Gymnastics. I'm seriously planning to save up for Brazil to watch at least one of the Women's events particularly Team Finals or All Around. It's gotta be a hot ticket!
