140.4…Finally Home
After 15 nights, many ups and downs, good times and not so good times, I’m finally home. Thank you for all your support, love and well wishes for my dad. He continues to improve each day and I hope that an upcoming blood test will show that he actually is getting better. Only time will tell.
Saturday night we all ate the Brent’s Deli leftover for dinner.
Sometimes there’s nothing better than a good deli meal! I always choose the roast beef!
Yesterday morning my mom made my dad and I eggs, turkey sausage and toast.
He came and ate with us at the table which was nice. Early on, my mom was bringing his food to the bedroom.
When lunchtime rolled around, I knew I wanted more deli leftovers. :)
This time I had a half a roast beef sandwich AND a half salami sandwich on rye. I couldn’t decide which sandwich I liked better.
My brother and sister in law came over after lunch and we all hung out with my dad. My sister in law, Stephanie, made her famous meatballs and pasta sauce so we had an excellent dinner!
My favorite sauce ever. Stephanie also made a big salad to go with it.
I felt spoiled. And I know my dad did too. :)
After dinner, I got packed up and my husband and I went to my other sister in law’s house to pick up the kids. Then we made the long drive back to San Diego. I was glad to be in my bed last night.
This morning’s breakfast was granola and almond milk.
I went to the grocery store, unpacked and made lunch. I bought some pre-made tuna salad at Trader Joe’s so I made a tuna sandwich with a side of grapes.
The rest of the day will be spent paying bills and getting stuff organized around the house. I plan to go back to Los Angeles on Wednesday to spend more time with my dad.
Tonight is Bunco and I’m really looking forward to seeing my friends. They have been such a great support since my dad got sick and I can’t wait to spend some time with them.
What is your meat of choice at a deli?
So glad to hear your Dad is doing a bit better, I am thinking about him this week!
ReplyDeleteHope your Dad continues to improve! My favorite deli meat? Corned beef!
