Wonderful Wedding Eats
Yesterday was such a relaxing day! After I checked into the Estancia La Jolla hotel, I helped myself to the complimentary champagne in the lobby. What a nice touch!
One for me and one for my husband. But let’s get real. He doesn’t really like champagne so I was forced to drink it.
I got ready for the wedding (my husband’s friend was getting married) and we headed down to the courtyard for the ceremony. The weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding. After the ceremony, we walked over to the ballroom area and enjoyed the cocktail hour.
More rough living.
We were seated for dinner and I couldn’t help but admire the lovely table setting.
Most of the time I find the food served at weddings isn’t always good. Last night was the exception…I thought the food was delicious!
We started with a wild mushroom risotto.
Loved this! Rich and comforting!
The salad course was also excellent.
Caprese type salad with avocado and mixed greens. The yellow layers are beets (yuck) which got pushed away but everything else was devoured.
For my main course I chose the short ribs. It was served with mashed potatoes and veggies.
My husband and my friend sitting next to me ordered the chicken. I rarely order the chicken but this time I wish I had. Don’t get me wrong…the short ribs were great but what was even better was the truffle macaroni and cheese that came with the chicken. Luckily for me, I convinced both my husband and my friend to give me their mac & cheese. Score!
Dessert was an assortment of mini cakes!
I love anything mini! I tried most of them and they were all delicious. After a bit of dancing, it was time to head back to the room for bed!
This morning I made some coffee in the room and ate a Larabar for breakfast that I brought with me.
I picked up the kids from my sister in law’s house and came home.
Lunch was a tuna sandwich with pickles. I’m really digging these plain tuna sandwiches!
I feel very accomplished today. I managed to eliminate most of the clutter/piles on my desk and clean out my inbox. I realize that in another day or two it will be a mess again but it feels really good right now!
When was the last wedding you went to? Did you enjoy the food?
Funny -- the last wedding I went to was at the same hotel, one year ago this weekend! It was a gorgeous place for a wedding and the food was great. I wish I could remember exactly what we ate :)
ReplyDeleteThe last wedding we went to was the best wedding food I've ever had - a big Italian wedding - probably 300+ guests? I thought with a group that size, the food would be cold, awful, but it was delicious.
ReplyDeletePlus it had the hugest sweets table I've ever seen in my life - all of it I deemed insulin worthy!!
