137.8…Prep Kitchen
Ok my friends. I’ve been eating out…a lot. Like almost every meal. And I haven’t been to the gym in ages. So that means I need to watch portions which I feel like I’ve been pretty good at. The scale has been pretty friendly lately so I guess I’m doing something right.
Monday night the power went off AGAIN at my parent’s house. We were out picking up dinner when it happened so we ate in the dark. At least it was delicious even if we couldn’t see it.
We picked up pizza and salad at Luciano’s by my parents’ house. I love that place! This is the first time I’ve had the pizza and I can’t wait to have it again!
Breakfast yesterday was a toasted English muffin with peanut butter.
My mom and I went to Target where I picked up a latte at their Starbucks.
We picked up Corner Bakery for lunch. Another place I love. I had a half Tomato Mozzarella sandwich with a Chopped Salad.
This sandwich is awesome. I hadn’t tried it before. So glad I finally did! Their house dressing which came with the salad was too sweet for me but the salad was really good.
After lunch I drove back to San Diego. I ran some errands and then got ready for dinner with some friends at Prep Kitchen in Del Mar. I had never been so I was super excited. I love trying new restaurants.
We sipped on some delicious wine while chatting and enjoying the warm evening.
The table split The Cutting Board: House cured meats & cheese & accompaniments:
They make their own mustards and they were incredible!
We also split the Heirloom Tomato & Mozzarella Salad.
Another winner. The heirloom tomatoes were amazing.
As if that wasn’t enough, I ordered the Garden Green Salad with Goat Cheese Crostini and Roast Shallot Vinaigrette.
Let’s get real. I ordered it for the goat cheese crostini but the salad was good too. ;)
My entree was the Pan Roasted Salmon (corn, zucchini, roasted peppers & basil butter):
Fan-freaking-tastic. The salmon was prepared medium rare which is just the way I like it. The flavors were so fresh and incredible together.
The fun didn’t stop there. We all split desserts. Apple Spice Cake (Brown Sugar Cream Cheese Frosting & Toasted Walnuts):
Excellent!
JoJo’s Cookie Plate:
Homemade cookies=awesome. We also got the Bread Pudding but there was too much banana in it for me.
I was really impressed with Prep Kitchen and cannot wait to go back. If you’re in the Del Mar area, please go check it out!
This morning’s breakfast was quite yellow.
I took the kids to school. Today is Grandparent’s Day at the school and I was in charge of plating 650 chocolate chip cookies and delivering them to each class. It was SO hard not to eat a few along the way but I restrained myself.
My mother in law came for the event so we went out to lunch afterwards at Poseidon. We sat outside, right on the water. It was a bit foggy but it’s still beautiful there. I ordered the Seared Ahi Salad.
Perfect and light.
The service was really slow and our server apologized with this:
Ugh! How can you not eat free Mud Pie!?! I ate a few bites to be polite (it was amazing) and then put my spoon down. We took a walk on the beach afterwards. Any exercise is good at this point!
To make all this crazy eating worse, it’s hot wing night tonight! I don’t know if I’ll be able to exercise the same control when the bowl of steaming hot hot wings are placed in front of me. Wish me luck!
When was the last time you exercised self control at a restaurant?
Love the tomato and mozzarella sandwich at CB! I've had a difficult time exercising self control when it comes to desserts lately, chocolate just tastes way too good. And that mud pie looks ridiculous. I don't usually get lattes but hear the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks is really good..have you tried?
ReplyDeletewow that lunch with the 1/2 sandwich looks fabulous! and that apple spice cake...drooling:)

ReplyDeleteI think I tried it once a long time ago and didn't like it. I don't know why but I'd be willing to try it again. I normally love pumpkin stuff!
Each cake recipe is a completely different taste experience, and all are equally delectable. Nothing beats the smell of a cake being baked in the oven. Forget air fresheners, bake a cake for the perfect home scent!
