Keeping It Tight
My trip to Scottsdale with my college friends this past weekend started off on the right foot at the airport.
A nice refreshing beverage before entering 112 degree weather. On the plane I enjoyed a second glass of wine plus a pineapple cup and this turkey & gouda sandwich:
I arrived in Phoenix, took a town car (cheaper than the cab!) to the Fairmont hotel in Scottsdale. Slowly but surely everyone started to arrive. We enjoyed some drinks at the bar before heading to dinner.
Dinner was at the Mexican restaurant at the hotel: La Hacienda. Their chips were amazing.
For my entree, I ordered the Taco Trio (chicken tinga, barbacoa de res, pork carnita):
They were small but so delicious! After dinner, we headed to the outdoor bar to hang for the rest of the night. Each girls trip we do, we end up with a “saying” for the weekend. Last year it was “Treat Yo Self”. This year it ended up being “Keep It Tight.” I’m not even sure where it came from but we did our best to “keep it tight” all weekend.
We stayed until the bar closed and then went to bed.
My roommate, Sascha, and I enjoyed room service for breakfast Saturday morning.
Two eggs over easy, potatoes, bacon and an English muffin. Then it was time to hit the pool where we stayed all day! Lunch was a chopped salad that was incredible.
After the day at the pool, we headed to Dry Bar to get our hair done. I has never tried Dry Bar before and was SO excited.
I opted for the “Southern Comfort” style which was supposed to be the one with the most volume. I like big hair. :)
Final look:
Ha ha! Just kidding!
Much better!
Evelyn, Shawna and I with our new do’s:
After dry bar, it was time to head to dinner at Mastro’s City Hall.

Shawna, Evelyn and Priscilla:
I started with a wedge salad with ranch dressing.
Loved it.
I wasn’t sure that I felt like having a steak for dinner so I opted for the sashimi-style tuna.
It wasn’t anything special. I learned my lesson. When you are at Mastro’s, you need to keep it tight and have the steak.
What I did enjoy though, were the sides!
Creamed spinach, broccoli, asparagus, gorgonzola mac & cheese, mushrooms and mashed potatoes.
The butter cake for dessert wasn’t bad either. :)
After dinner we headed over to the W Hotel for some dancing fun.
After our feet couldn’t stand it anymore, we called it a night. I had a blast!
We met for brunch this morning at the hotel. I had two eggs over easy, potatoes, bacon and an English muffins. I love English muffins if you haven’t gathered that.
Then it was time to head to the airport. All good things come to an end.
Now I’m home waiting for my husband to pick up dinner for us. Have a good night and keep it tight!
What was the best thing you ate all weekend?
Haters gonna hate. So great seeing you!
