144.2…Easy Taco Seasoning
I admit…I like using seasoning packets. Sometimes it’s nice to take a short cut when cooking. But….I also have a ton of dried spices in my pantry which need to be used up. I wanted to make tacos last night and thought that would be a perfect time to use them up. Plus, there are a ton of preservatives in those packets!
Easy Taco Seasoning
Ingredients:
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 Tbsp corn starch
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
Directions:
Brown 1 lb of meat of your choice. Once the meat is almost cooked all the way through, add all of the ingredients along with 3/4 cup water. Simmer on the stove top for about 10-15 minutes until the liquid evaporates and the mixture thickens.
I chose to make turkey tacos last night. I served them in flour tortillas with all the fixings plus refried beans on the side.
And a big salad!
This morning’s breakfast was pineapple Chobani yogurt, Gluten Free Granola and mixed berries.
Today was the kids’ first day of school! I dropped them off, took care of some stuff at the school, then hit the gym for an hour.
I met Lisa at Wahoo’s for lunch. My regular fish tacos:
The rest of the afternoon was spent volunteering at the school. My husband is working late tonight so leftovers it will be!
Do you make your own taco (or other) seasonings?
Mmmm... Retried beans. I totally make my own seasonings, cuts out so much salt.
ReplyDeleteI prefer making my own to the seasoning packets. However, there's one Mexican appetizer dip I make that tastes so much better with the taco seasoning packet; it has avocado, light cream cheese, and light sour cream as the base. It's so so good! Now I'm craving Mexican! :-)
