Epic Sushi
Amazing Salmon happened on Wednesday night.
I cannot get over how good this salmon is.
Breakfast on Thursday morning was scrambled egg beaters with salsa and cheddar cheese.
I took the kids to school, then came home to finish packing for Park City, Utah.
We picked the kids up and headed to the airport. I had Thai Fried Rice at the airport for lunch. I’ve had this before and really like it.
The flight to Park City was easy…we arrived, got our rental car and headed towards our rental home. We awaited the arrival of my brother in law and his family as well as another couple and their family. I ran to the grocery store and picked up a bunch of food for everyone.
Since it was getting late, we decided to order pizza from Davanza’s for delivery. It was extremely thin crust and wasn’t a hit with the kiddos or the adults really.
I had two slices of the veggie and one slice of the cheese. Eh. Not the best pizza.
Breakfast yesterday morning was toast and peanut butter.
Most people went skiing but my sister in law, Marit, doesn’t ski like me so we decided to go shopping. Lunch was at Yuki Yama for sushi.
We ordered four rolls to split. From left to right:
Bruce Lee Roy (spicy albacore, avocado, shishitos, topped with lightly seared wagyu beef, crispy shallots, green onion, black sea salt, truffle garlic ponzu)
Chiller (tuna, cucumber, topped with albacore, lemon, tempura green onion, serrano chilis, red pepper threads, with jalapeño vinaigrette)
Jupiter Access (tempura shrimp, cucumber, lemon zest, sriracha, topped with yellowtail and albacore, spicy ponzu)
Spicy Tuna Maki (tuna, spicy sauce, cucumber, avocado, sprouts)
The Bruce Lee Roy roll was the best one by far. It was epic. That was followed by the Chiller, Jupiter Access then the Spicy Tuna.
We shopped a bit more, then headed back to the house. Everyone eventually came home and changed and we all went out to dinner to Grappa. We ordered the Fondue to share (imported emmentaler, raclette and provolone, roasted garlic, traditional accompaniment):
It was just ok. They served their house bread with this amazing dipping sauce of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic that I mainly focused on.
We also all shared the Roasted Artichoke, Nicoise Olives, Fresh Herbs, Parmigiano Flatbread:
This was pretty good….especially when dipped in the olive oil/balsamic dip!
I ordered the Insalata Mista (hand-cut greens, roasted tomato pesto, caramelized carrots, pecorino cheese, red wine vinaigrette):
This was a delicious salad!
For my entree, I wasn’t super hungry at that point, so I opted for the Lobster Ravioli appetizer (oyster mushrooms, asparagus, fresh chervil, lobster cream):
Pretty good but nothing to write home about.
We weren’t super impressed with Grappa. Cute restaurant but the food wasn’t anything special.
When we got back to the house last night, I baked some Toll House chocolate chip cookies and went to bed. :)
Breakfast this morning was peanut butter on toast again.
Marit and I had a repeat day of yesterday. Shopping and epic sushi again. We went back to Yuki Yama. We had the same rolls as yesterday but we swapped the Spicy Tuna Maki roll with the Green Hornet Roll (spicy tuna, tempura shishito peppers, avocado topped with cilantro jalapeño aioli:
The Green Hornet was better than the Spicy Tuna Maki but still not as good as the other three. I will dream about those other three rolls for a good time to come….
We topped the sushi off with ice cream at Java Cow Cafe & Bakery.
Perfect day.
Happy Valentines day everyone!
What would be your idea of the perfect day?
