I basically ate my way through the weekend. And everything was fabulous.
The last night in Palm Desert we went back to Fresh Agave for dinner. Margaritas are a must there!
So is their guacamole.
I ordered the carne asada which came with a salad to start.
Delicious.
Breakfast Friday morning before I left was peanut butter on toast.
Once I got back to San Diego, I stopped at Sushiya for lunch. Tuna, yellowtail and salmon sushi:
El Fuego Roll:
Had to get my sushi fix in for the week!
Arnold was quite excited to see me when I got home!
Later that night I went out with a few friends to see a local band, Atomic Groove, play at the Bahia Hotel.
After the show, we went to Sbicca in Del Mar for dinner. I was starving by then so I attacked everything that was put in front of me. We all shared the Buratta Cheese with Toasted Baguette, Basil Pesto and Arugula Salad:
Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Pancetta and Sherry Vinegar Glaze:
I ordered the Bistro Steak Frittes (Grilled Flat Iron with chimichurri, sautéed local vegetables and frittes):
Everything was delicious!! Great dinner! Afterwards, we went next door to Jimmy O’s for some dancing and cocktails.
Fun night with friends!
Breakfast Saturday morning was my usual except that I was out of avocado. The horror!! I replaced it with a little bit of butter. Butter makes everything better, right?
This was our first weekend having the kids away so we basically just hung out at home and went out to eat. It was glorious. We cruised over to Trattoria i Trulli for lunch. We shared the Caprese Estate (fresh beef steak tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and olive oil):
I ordered the Pollo Capriccioso (chicken breast, arugula, chopped tomatoes, lemon, olive oil):
I swear there was chicken under all that arugula. While it was really healthy, it tasted a bit boring, I have to admit.
I made up for it with some Yogurtland afterwards.
Saturday night we went out with John and Kate to Market. We were presented with a complimentary shrimp appetizer upon sitting down.
We all shared the Truffle Fries (Parmesan Reggiano, fine herbs truffled aioli):
Hamachi Sashimi (pickled cucumbers, Enoki mushrooms, yuzu aioli, ponzu):
Kate and I shared the BLT Salad with came with mini grilled cheese sandwiches):
I ordered the Veal Wienerschnitzel:
I have to admit that I ordered it because it came with an egg on top. The people sitting next to us ordered it and I was sold as soon as I saw it.
Everything was delicious. I can’t complain about a single thing. Great service, fabulous company and delicious eats. Since the food was so good, we HAD to try dessert!
I don’t remember the names of the items but it doesn’t really matter. They rocked.
Good times!
The celebrations continued Sunday morning for Father’s Day. We went to Pacific Coast Grill for brunch.
As soon as I saw Chilaquiles on the menu, I knew that’s what I had to have. And they had Cholula hot sauce. Life is good.
After brunch, we went to see the movie, Entourage. It was hilarious. I miss that show so much and the movie did not disappoint!
We took Arnold to the beach for a little bit. She had never been before and loved the ocean, sand and other dogs!
Father’s Day dinner was at our club for Burger Night! I had a beef burger lettuce wrapped with arugula, tomatoes, red onions and sweet potato fries.
Epic.
Today’s breakfast was the usual minus avocado. I finally went to the store today so I have avocado again. Yes!
I went to spin class at the gym. I’ve decided that I’m going to try and go every day this week. I have no excuse!
After I ran some errands, I stopped for lunch at Subway.
I will be eating dinner at home tonight. I need it!
What did you do for Father’s Day?
