143.2...Pros and Cons of Brunch
Saturday night my husband and I went to dinner and a movie. We went to dinner at Eddie V’s in La Jolla. My meal started with the Heirloom Tomato Salad (Bufala Mozzarella, Basil, Olive Oil and Aged Balsamic Vinegar):
My entree was the Swordfish Steak (Broiled with Fresh Lump Crab, Avocado, Cilantro and Red Chile):
I destroyed everything. The fish was especially delicious! Loved everything!
Before our movie (Train Wreck - hilarious!), we stopped at Swirls for dessert.
Cheesecake, Dulce de Leche and Red Velvet. Great combo!
Sunday morning we decided to go to brunch at Pacific Coast Grill. I ordered the Farmers Omelet (egg whites, roasted artichokes, mushrooms, pepper caponata & provolone cheese). I had sliced tomatoes instead of potatoes.
Excellent! I love their Sunday Brunch!
I was thinking about brunch. There are many awesome things about it. For example:
It’s relaxing.
It’s great after sleeping in Sunday morning.
The food!
But there is a BIG con:
It reduces my meals from three to two for that day. I live to eat. I look forward to each meal. When one is taken away, there is a level of sadness and loss that I feel. But somehow I am able to pick myself up and wait patiently for that second and last meal of the day.
It turned out to be at Burger Night at our club. I ordered a turkey burger lettuce wrapped with red onion, avocado, tomatoes, arugula, pesto aioli and a side salad.
I have to pat myself on the back for a mostly healthy weekend. I usually let healthy eating fly out the window on the weekends but was able to keep myself in check this time.
Ah Monday morning. How quickly you seem to arrive! My favorite breakfast makes it more tolerable.
I went to spin class and had a fabulous workout. 612 calories for that hour. Yes!
I went to Costco and came home for lunch.
Turkey and avocado sandwich and a salad.
I will actually be making a new recipe tonight. It’s been awhile!
Are you a brunch fan?
