138.6...Super Bowl 51!
What a weekend! I was lucky enough to go to Houston for Super Bowl 51 and what a game it was!! Let’s rewind...
Friday’s breakfast:
I took the kids to school then went to the gym and home to get packed and dressed. My mom arrived for the weekend to take care of my non-sports loving daughter. I took my mom to lunch at Pacific Coast Grill. I ordered the Seaside Ahi Poke Bowl (seaweed salad, sushi rice, avocado, crispy wontons & sesame seeds):
It was really delicious!
We picked up the kids from school, took them to their hair cut appointments and came home. Dinner was at our club. I ordered the Salmon which came with artichokes, pesto and fried polenta squares.
I wasn’t a fan of the polenta (too greasy tasting) but the salmon was quite possibly the best salmon I’ve ever had. I’m still thinking about it. Must go back!
Saturday’s breakfast:
My husband, my son and I took off for the airport for our flight to Houston. I ate a breakfast quiche on the plane and before we knew it, we were there!
We checked into our hotel and soon my brother in law arrived as well. We all went to dinner at The Capital Grille. My meal started out with Steak Tartare which I shared with my brother in law. It was fabulous. I could have made this my entire dinner.
I also ordered the Sushi-Grade Sesame Seared Tuna with Gingered Rice:
Seriously amazing tuna!!
After dinner we picked up cupcakes at Sweet.
My brother in law and I split the Red Velvet and Salted Caramel cupcakes. Ridiculously good. Maybe the best cupcakes ever.
Sunday morning I got up, ate a That’s It bar and hit the hotel gym.
My husband’s other brother and his son arrived from Atlanta and we all went to brunch at Cyclone Anaya’s. I had the Chilaquiles which were quite good!
Then we headed to the Super Bowl! We went to the NFL tail gate when we arrived. I wasn’t super hungry but I did have room to try a couple of desserts.
A donut and a red velvet cake push pop!
My brother in law and I:
Look at this big guy I ran into:
Shaq!
Then it was time to head into the stadium for the game to begin!
I wasn’t really cheering for any team in particular, just hoping for a good game. And boy, a good game is what we got! I never would have thought that the Patriots would have pulled off a victory after the first half. Such an exciting game!!! And the halftime show with Lady Gaga was fabulous!
After the game, we walked a bit and stopped at a Marriott to have dinner to wait out the crowds. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries.
It wasn’t the best but I needed food so it did the trick.
Monday morning I ate a Kind bar and we headed to the airport.
I ate random stuff on the plane: half of my son’s Wendy’s hamburger, some salami and crackers.
By the time dinner came around I was pretty hungry. I picked up a Greek Quinoa Salad (red rice, quinoa, sustainably raised salmon, cherry tomatoes, carrots, cucumber, red onions, sesame seeds, feta cheese tossed in homemade tahini dressing with warm focaccia bread) from Na Pizza.
It was SO good! A new favorite salad for sure!!
Today’s breakfast:
After I took the kids to school, I went to the gym. I got a great workout in!
I ran some errands and went to the school to volunteer for a bit. Lunch was a Grilled Chicken Greek Salad at Marketplace Grill.
Now I’m home relaxing. The husband is going out so salmon it is for me! ;)
Who were you cheering for in the Super Bowl?

Anybody but the Patriots, only because they are so darn good! I still can't figure out where Atlanta went wrong. Amazing game!
